Our house

Our house

On February 19, 2010, Matt & I finally closed on our new house. It only took 3 months and 17 days. The process was and is still unbelievable and looking back I wish that I had started the blog when we made the offer. However, it was worth jumping through every hoop — even when it felt like they were ringed in fire. Now that we have the house we are working to turn it into a wonderful home.

For those of you curious about the name, our house sits 38° north of the equator which puts us in Lexington, KY. It is also 450 miles from the ocean. Matt is from Mississippi and moved here, by way of New Orleans, a few years ago for work. I’m from Georgia and I moved here for Matt. Our story began on April 17, 2009. At that time, I lived in the Outer Banks and Matt lived in Lexington. We were both flying to Tampa via Atlanta and thanks to an adorable old man who didn’t understand what zones are, we ended up talking. I went out the following night with friends and Matt came and met us. After that we didn’t see each other for almost six weeks. We talked every day and I knew I loved him before I ever kissed him. Serendipity at its best! I would have named our cottage Serendipity, but while I was living in the Outer Banks the cottage on the north end of the island, name Serendipity, was washing into the ocean (that was also the house used in Nights in Rodanthe). Now here we are, a little more than a year later, married with a house. This is our story.
